Who is Carma Jay?
Carmeline, also known as Carma Jay is the creator and owner of Carma Jay Studio. She is the daughter of two loving immigrant parents from Haiti that came to America wanting a better future for their family. She graduated in the Top 10 at Brentwood High School with an Advanced Regents Diploma with an honors distinction in math and science.
How did she get through school?
After high school, Carmeline went to Suffolk County Community College for 2 years. To get through college she decided to start her own business called Hairbycarma. While at SCCC, she had a part time job on campus, was president of the African American Student Union, was an actress in a college play production, and was awarded the SUNY Chancellor Award. After graduation SCCC with her associates, she went to SUNY Farmingdale and earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in Applied Mathematics to become an actuary.
Why did she choose beauty?
After college, Carmeline decided to do beauty full-time and focus on her business. She serviced hundred of clients in the Tri-State Area. She even had her work featured in the New York Times, BET.com, and ESPN. She started to expand her brand with photography and working on special occasions like weddings, sweet 16s, and baby showers. Her work and models were showcased in the RAW Artists Fashion Show in Astoria, NY in 2018. She started to build a team that would help women feel beautiful and special for any occasion.
